Summer(ish) Soiree 2021, Everything you need to know!

What is this all about?

Simply put, we know that play is vital to EVERYONE. So, we build playgrounds where everybody can play, together!

The Summer(ish) Soiree is our annual fund-, friend-, and fun-raiser as we work to make this mission possible. Trust us, we have some serious fun with it!

How do I buy tickets? And, how much are they?

Get ’em online. In-person individual tickets are $125 and virtual tickets are $25. In-person tickets are on sale until Tuesday September 21 and virtual tickets are available until September 24.

What changes are you making to the event on account of COVID-19?

We are limiting ticket availability this year for a smaller in-person event with masks, requiring proof of vaccination, and leaving plenty of space for everyone to spread out and social distance. By reducing the event size and following recommended precautions, we are increasing the comfort and safety of everyone present.

My kids have come in the past. Can they come this year?

If they are over twelve years old and vaccinated, we would love to see them! For those who are younger and/or unvaccinated, we encourage the virtual option for them or your household.

What are your current COVID protocols?

Harper’s Playground will be following health and safety recommendations that include mask and social distancing policies consistent with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) guidelines. We will be following this guidance at the time of the Soiree event on September 25th. Proof of vaccination will be required for entry to the event. Please note that the event is outdoors and will have a table seated dinner, silent auction, and bar, which will present opportunities for closer contact with other individuals. Please bring your mask to use as needed.

Masks: Yes or no?

Yes! Bring your own, or we’ll have one for you. There will be eating; there will be drinking. You know the drill. Take care of yourself and one another. Delta stops for no one. (The event is outdoors and there is plenty of room to observe social distancing. We encourage our guests to use masks while entering and while purchasing food, drinks, or merchandise.)

Should I wear clothes? If so, what kind?

Yes, you should probably wear something. As far as what, we’ll leave it to you to interpret what our standard motto of “playfully dressy” means for your style.

After being stuck inside for over a year, we invite you to find those clothes you used to love to wear to parties or come in what you’ve learned is your comfort style. Just remember we will be outside!

Of course, if you’re joining us virtually, clothing is optional.

Where is the party at?

We’re partying at the site of our next big inclusive playground: Marshall Park.

Where do I park?

There’s plenty of parking next to the playground at the Luepke Community Center located at 1069 E McLoughlin Blvd Vancouver, WA 98663. ADA accessible parking will also be available.

What should I expect?

Expect fun, expect to be inspired, and expect to feel good about lending your support!

The Summer(ish) Soiree is a beautiful blend of socializing with friends new and old, inspirational speakers, a chance to go home with some seriously cool auction and raffle packages, great food and drink (all included with the price of your ticket), and an array of musical entertainment. Plus, we’ll have a short program where you’ll learn more about Harper’s Playground’s mission and how you can help to make our work possible.

When does registration close? / Do I have to buy my ticket beforehand?

Online registration closes 9/17 for live event and 9/24 for virtual event.

Will there be food and drink?

Of course! Included in the price of your ticket are a selection of appetizers, beer and wine, entrees, and desserts. Come hungry. It’s going to be delicious!

Note that we will have veggie-friendly and gluten-free options, as well.

Do I have to arrive on time? And do I have to stay until 9:30pm?

We do appreciate your prompt arrival so that everyone is ready for the party to start. Food, drinks, and entertainment will begin right away, then we have a short program scheduled. Afterwards, we’re pretty sure you’ll want to stick around for more music and to see if you’ve won a raffle prize. But, life happens, scheduling is tough, and we’re pretty easy going.

What am I likely to win? / Do I have to be present to win?

We have several incredible auction and raffle packages.

Here are just a couple:

-Trips to Cancun, NYC, San Francisco, Mt. Hood, Manzanita, White Salmon, Chinook Winds Casino & Long Beach, WA.

-Artwork, self care packages, lots of gift baskets and gift certificates! Some notable gift baskets include $200 in goods from Wellspent Market and $100 in goods from Kindred Homestead Supply!

You don’t have to be present to win, because that would be illegal, but we do hope you ARE present. It makes it way easier to celebrate with you. If you’re joining us from home, we will get you your winnings the week following the soiree.

Will I have a reserved seat?

Yes. Sorta. Anyone who has purchased a ticket in advance or is a guest of a table host will have an assigned table. Our soiree is about fun and mingling, so use your reserved table as your “home base” while you grab your mask, roam and network with our other wonderful guests.

Will the event be accessible?

Yes! We will have accessible parking as well as ADA accessible restrooms donated by Royal Restrooms! If you have any particular accommodation requests, please reach out. The only thing that is not accessible currently the Marshall Park playground but with your help, we are on a mission to change that!

Where does my ticket money go? / How much of my ticket is tax deductible?

To build more playgrounds!

A portion of your ticket price covers the cost of putting on the party. The other $65 is tax deductible and goes directly to Harper’s Playground’s mission, helping us to develop increasingly more inclusive, creative, engaging playgrounds in our revolutionary model.

Harper’s Playground has become SO much more than one playground. We may be small yet, but we are mighty, we are innovative, and our momentum is ever growing. Your support will help us to bring an inclusive playground to Marshall Park AND help countless communities to develop inclusive playgrounds of their own.

I’m feeling a little sick. Should I still come?

No! Goodness no. Stay home and feel better soon. Send us an email and we will send you a link to join virtually between catching up on the latest episodes of Ted Lasso.
