It’s a Party and You’re All Invited!

March 1, 2021

March 1st is my birthday! I’m always in a terrific mood on my birthday. I think I’m thrust into complete gratitude on this day for this life and it always seems to be a really lucky day for me, too.

The first two years of the Harper’s Playground journey had pivotal moments that came as bona-fide birthday gifts.

1.  I pitched our original idea to our Neighborhood Association in January of 2010. Their official letter of support came over a month later. Check out the date on the letter at the bottom of this post!

2.  A year into the project my good buddy, Todd helped arrange a phone call with a renowned landscape architect. I shared with her that we were working with an equipment company to design our playground.  Her reply…”no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!”. She told me she would be in the area (she worked out of Berkeley) for a meeting, and would donate a day-long design charette to us. The cover photo for this blog post was taken on the day that I knew what I was going to do with the rest of my life. It was my 41st birthday.  So far, so good!

Today on my 52nd trip around the sun, I am thankful for everything that has happened and what’s yet to come!
