Madison McAleavey

Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Madison grew up in Alaska, where her sense of wonder was fostered through play in snow, during bright summer nights, and alongside my community. These childhood experiences also fueled a passion for nature and exploration, inspiring her move to the Pacific Northwest to further her education. Since moving to Oregon, she received her doctorate in occupational therapy and had the opportunity to serve and work alongside Harper’s Playground. Currently, she works with children and families as a pediatric occupational therapist in Portland, OR. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and cat, exploring nature on bike or foot, and discovering the best vegan desserts Portland has to offer.

The occupation of play offers the opportunity to do, be, become, and belong. Through risk and exploration, children are fully immersed in the present moment, while developing alongside their peers. Harper's Playground affords children and families of all abilities equitable play experiences while contributing to a stronger and more diverse community.
