Kimmie Donlon, Communications Manager

With over 15 years of work in the nonprofit world, nine years of marketing educational causes, and a foundation rooted in the benefits of PLAY, Kimmie is overjoyed to join the Harper’s Playground team of dreamers, doers, and thought provokers.

Proud mama to Cecilia Charlotte (a mini outdoor explorer who loves collecting baby pine cones, eating dandelions, and spotting neighborhood “ruff ruffs”), Kimmie raises awareness of vital causes by documenting the dynamic narratives of growth of the people behind the programs. As an empathic storyteller and photographer, she is fueled by a passion for play-based learning, arts education, and community-building through creativity.

After spending two years immersed in the pedagogy of play at Portland Children’s Museum and Opal School—where Washington Park served as backyard and second classroom—Kimmie is honored to continue sharing the power of play in a deeply meaningful and inclusive new way.

Harper’s Playground’s global movement to revolutionize the landscape of play for people of all abilities is nothing short of inspirational. As a communications writer, I’ve always viewed the written word as my ‘playground.’ The opportunity to work with an organization powered by a profound passion for play is a deeply rewarding one that quite literally brings my mission to life. Every child should experience the unbridled magic of soaring high above the clouds in a swing lovingly designed with their enjoyment in mind. When play is accessible to all, sky’s the limit!
