Born and raised in a farming community in rural South Dakota, Carrie understands the power of a natural play environment. She’s spent many hours making her own fun alongside her sisters with some blown down trees and a powerful imagination.

After graduating from the University of South Dakota she headed west to Oregon and has spent the past 20 years in marketing and communications within some realm of the financial services industry. She obtained a Masters in Strategic Communications from the University of Oregon along the way and loves using that experience to help organizations effectively communicate – whether it’s to promote a great service or to tackle a challenge.

She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, spunky six-year-old and two cats. They love camping, hiking and playing at ANY Harper’s Playground, but especially Marshall Park.

It is so important for kids, or anyone for that matter, to have access to places that allow them to tap into their imagination and experience the joy of raw, joyous play. The environment that Harper’s Playground and their model creates truly taps into this for children and adults alike and I’m honored to be a part of bringing this important resource to more communities.
