Growing up in the Pacific Northwest as the family’s “difficult child,” Aly preferred building her own designs to what the neighborhood had to offer. Following a failure to excel in math, she abandoned plans to become an architect and instead earned her degree in liberal arts (also important) from the University of Portland. Before joining Harper’s Playground, Aly served as Neighborhood Revitalization Manager for Invest Atlanta and brings nearly 15 years of community development and public policy experience to her role as Deputy Director. She is driven by an unwavering commitment to social justice and an understanding that disparate impacts must be addressed with urgency and accountability. When she’s not working, Aly can be found talking about the books she plans to read, keeping up with her daughter, Noor (the family extrovert), and mapping out her next trip with her husband, Suman.
